Help Your Teen Become

by exceeding potential, pursuing passions, and setting up an amazing future

So many parents (and teens) find the admissions process extremely convoluted and unexplainable — it truly can be incomprehensible.

But today, you don't have to be one of them.

As an independent college counselor with over 18 years’ experience, I focus on finding the RIGHT college for your teen, no matter the 'name'.

There’s nothing that I love more than help students become the best versions of themselves.

You may have a son who's oblivious to the college application most of the time. Or he may spend most of his time playing video games. He may be a talented athlete who doesn't really care about homework or grades. Or maybe he had a disastrous year this year when it really counted.

Or, do you have an anxious, overachieving daughter? She may be good at a lot of things but doesn't have the time to put into any one activity to become REALLY good at it. Maybe you're worried that even though she's taking mostly AP and Honors classes, she just doesn't give her full potential.

You may also have two, or more, very different kids. But they all have one thing in common.

They want to go to college.

I get it.

In my 18+ years experience and after 2000+ teenagers, I know the one thing that matters.

I'm invested in your teen enough to bring out their potential.

You probably wish you could help them but can't seem to get through to them. Your child may tell you, time after time, that they're just so stressed and hate applying to college.

The college admissions process has changed. It's become a lot more intense than when we were applying to college. Asking teens how their presence would enhance the school can be an enormous burden for most kids.

The admissions process focuses on the individual, quirks and all, far more than most parents realize.

I've got you.

I always encourage the teens to grow as people, not simply as applicants (which of course makes them stronger applicants!)

I help your child be seen as a real person outside of their material application file.

I achieve this by helping your child write exceptional personal essays and discover how to THINK BIG. These two approaches form the foundation of the way I do things.

I know the dread of writing the personal essay well. Many teens find essays to be the worst part of the process.

Your teen's essay is your only communication medium inside the admissions committee room. Only one person will interview your child but everyone will read their essay.

I transform writing college essays from a gruelling and daunting activity to a rewarding art and craft.

My students learn to write with an intent and a purpose.

What matters most is how well they write the application essay, not just the cold hard grades and scores.

I believe that the college essay is just the first step in learning the skills needed to build a meaningful life.

Bringing these two factors together is what separates your teen from another student who also had the same, long list of extracurriculars.

When your teen dreams BIG, they are showing himself to the world, revealing their truest self.

I truly believe that students don’t need to do MORE, and MORE, and MORE to look ‘good’ to a college. Instead, students should strive to be authentically interesting.

By thinking BIG and dreaming BIG, my students discover how to turn their interests into incredible opportunities that can be truly life-changing.

In my 18+ years of helping students think BIG and dream BIG, I have:

College is your child’s first big chance to take the reins of their own life and to be in control of their choices.

I always tell my students: You're going to college, even if you're not going to Harvard.

Teens, I want you to listen.

Whether or not you have a huge obsession with whales and think you wants to be a marine biologist. Or you take that same passion for whales and write a rap song about it…

Whether you're a science nerd or kinda like English, but don't yet show interest or passion for specific career or profession...

Whether your parents are begging you to stop playing the Star Wars theme music on your trumpet (but how else are you going to get better?!)...

You’re different from any other student. So, each college application journey is different too.

I understand what you're going through.

No matter what type of teen you are, I want to help you dream BIG and to find your own, authentic voice - especially in that personal essay (which I know is important to you).

I also wanted to help parents navigate this exciting, but anxious and competitive process. I don’t want you to flail around trying to find the resources to make this process easier.

I don’t want you to spend your evenings nervously Googling answers to the questions that keep you up at night:

I don’t want you to cross your fingers and hope the other resources work.

So, I created programs for teens and an audio resource for parents.

Am I doing enough?

Is my child going to get into a good school?

How do I stay on top of it?

How will I cope with my child leaving home?

  • encouraged a girl who loved to write become a published novelist in her senior year (she went on to attend Stanford)

  • helped another girl submit her rap song about whales to Stanford (?)

  • ensured a boy submitted his application to Stanford despite his sincere protestations… he went on to invent Snapchat

  • Helped a first-generation girl get into HARVARD?
